【2025/10/08】World Bank Overview & Letter-Writing Session
The Climate Reality Project Japan World Bank Overview & Letter-Writing Session
「Take Action for the World Bank Annual Meetings: World Bank Overview & Letter-Writing Session」
The 2025 World Bank Annual Meetings will be held from October 13–18.
In alignment with this, The Climate Reality Project is organizing a global, branch-wide action focused on one of our priority themes: Financing a Just Transition.
The World Bank has the potential to be one of the largest funders of climate solutions in the world. Yet, despite its promises to support climate action, it still invests heavily in fossil fuel expansion. In fact, the bank increased its approved funding for fossil fuel projects from $60 million in 2022 to $490 million in 2024. The future of our planet’s energy depends heavily on the decisions made by the World Bank.
In this session, we will welcome Sebastian Grajales, Climate Finance Campaign Manager at Climate Reality Project, who will provide a clear overview of the World Bank’s role and its connection to climate action, specially tailored for a Japanese audience with Japanese interpretation provided. Participants will also have the opportunity to co-draft and send a letter to the representatives who influence the Bank’s decisions.
The World Bank Annual Meetings are a crucial opportunity to make our voices heard. Let’s work together to stop fossil fuel financing and promote clean energy investments!
【Who Should Attend】

【Speaker】
Sebastian Grajales(Climate Finance Campaign Manager, Climate Reality Project)
Sebastian believes that a little joy goes a long way in solving the climate crisis. Since joining The Climate Reality Project in 2018, he’s grown from leader to Climate Finance Campaign Manager, driving efforts toward funding the just energy transition. He’s currently studying Emergency and Disaster Management and serves as President of the Graduate Student Government (2024-25) at Georgetown University. When he’s not working on solving the climate crises, you’ll probably find him whipping up something food in the kitchen, wandering through nature, or trying (and succeeding) to dance to reggaeton.
