NOW HIRING: Community Advocacy Lead (full-time)

The Climate Reality Project Japan is NOW HIRING!
We are looking for one person to accelerate community climate actions as Community Advocacy Lead (full-time position).

Anticipated roles/tasks General responsibilities related to the operation of the Japan branch of the international NGO The Climate Reality Project (management of volunteer community activities, climate education, public relations and information dissemination)

The organization currently have four strategic pillars (Reducing Emissions, Calling Out Greenwashing, Financing a Just Transition, Strengthening International Cooperation on Climate). Based on this, Community Advocacy Lead will collaborate with the volunteer community to formulate and implement strategies for effective initiatives within Japan.

[Anticipated tasks]
・Coordination with the Climate Reality Project US headquarters and branches in other countries
・Building relationships and collaboration with various external stakeholders
・Cooperation with volunteer community
・Event planning and implementation, document creation and translation, SNS operation, etc.

As we are a small team, the tasks may vary and extend beyond the above. We are looking for someone who can work independently and flexibly.
Skills and experience 【Required】
・Understand and agree with, the mission and purpose of the Climate Reality Project and the Japan branch.
・Be able to perform work in both Japanese and English languages
・Interest and knowledge about climate change
・High communication skills
・Ability to use various IT tools, SNS, and services, or be able to adapt to new tools

 

 [Preferred]
・Experience in advocacy or policy knowledge related to climate change or other social issues
・Experience working in an NGO
・Experience working with volunteers, organizing events, organizing groups (outreach activities, community engagement, network management)
Employment forms and conditions ・Full-time employee (working hours are generally Monday-Friday 10:00-18:00, but holidays and night work is often required)
・Salary will be determined according to our organization’s regulations (transportation expenses paid separately and social insurance included)・The start date of employment is negotiable. Contract renewal every year from the agreed start date.
・There is a 3-month trial period from the time of recruitment (salary will be paid according to regulations and social insurance will be included)
Work location ・Residents in Japan only. In principle, this position is HYBRID of remote work and location specific work. (laptops and other communication equipment necessary for work are provided by the organization)
・Expected to attend in-person events and domestic/overseas business trips  (preference will be given to residents in the Kanto area)
